AsBAA Singapore Discovery Day 2022 Soars After 3-Year Hiatus

Following Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA)'s Singapore Safety Day, AGM, and two days of Corporate Jet Investor Asia, the joint AsBAA x CJI "Asian Business Aviation Week 2022" ended on a high note with a tremendously successful AsBAA Singapore Discovery Day on 1 July. Organized and hosted in collaboration with BOMBARDIER and Textron Aviation at Seletar Airport, the AsBAA Singapore Discovery Day 2022 was the first post-pandemic Discovery event in the region.

Over 40 students participated in this AsBAA Singapore Discovery Day, including students currently enrolled at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Asia) in Singapore, University Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation TechnologyInternational Islamic University Malaysia, Germany International School, and others. AsBAA was represented by Vice Chairman Max Motschmann and James Jordan, as well as executive team members Anthony Lam and Annie Chiu.

Students at Bombardier were greeted by a welcome speech from AsBAA's Max Motschmann, Bombardier's Simon Wayne, and AsBAA Discovery junior ambassadors Mio and Maxine Motschmann. The students were then treated to hands-on, guided individual workshops on airframe, sheet metal, engines, and avionics. Throughout the day, presentations and tours were given by Bombardier's Winston Hoo, Rolls Royce's Mark Webster, and Satcom Direct's Brian Roos. A complimentary lunch was catered by AsBAA for all attendees at Bombardier.

At Textron Aviation, students were welcomed by Stephen ChongRobin Chua, and Jackie Chen, and treated to an in-depth guided tour of the hangars containing various Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker business aircraft as well as an outdoor static display of the Cessna Grand Caravan EX. Special thanks to Leo Knaapen, AsBAA's Amy YangAida Ismail, Penny Lim and Embry Riddle's Simon Chee who provided valuable support that made this day possible. We were especially pleased to hear feedback from students that many of them are now motivated to join the aviation industry once again due to this Discovery Day. AsBAA is already planning Discovery Days in other parts of the region to be hosted later this year, so stay tuned for more!
