AsBAA Mourns the Loss of Member Hamish Harding
The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) is deeply saddened by the loss of Hamish Harding, a cherished member of our community and a true pioneer in the field of aviation.
Harding, 58, was one of five people on board the Titan submersible when it lost contact during a dive to the Titanic wreck site on 19 June 2023. The other victims were Stockton Rush, the founder and CEO of OceanGate Expeditions; Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French diver; Shahzada Dawood, a Pakistani businessman; and his son, Suleman Dawood.
Harding was a lifelong aviator who had achieved many amazing feats. He holds the world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the Earth via the North and South Poles by an aircraft. He also flew to space as part of the suborbital Blue Origin NS-21 mission, on 4 June 2022, on the fifth manned spaceflight of the New Shepard rocket.
Harding was an esteemed member of AsBAA and embodied the highest qualities of an aviator and explorer. He was a passionate advocate for safety and professionalism in the aviation industry, and he was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others.
"Hamish was a true inspiration to us all," said AsBAA Chairwoman, Jenny Lau. "He was a fearless aviator who was always pushing the boundaries of what was possible. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire AsBAA community."
The Titan submersible accident is a tragic loss for the global aviation community. Hamish Harding was a true inspiration to us all, and his legacy will live on for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.
