For the second year, AsBAA Discovery has completed its annual consulting project in which it places MBA level professionals into AsBAA member companies to experience a taste of a career in business aviation. Sarah Kalmeta, who leads AsBAA Discovery said, “The feedback from all parties has been very positive. Through this community project, HKUST MBA’s can experience on-the-job learning and establish new networks. Our members benefit from having highly skilled young professionals tackle projects with a fresh perspective. We thank HKUST for their trust and we look forward to continued cooperation.”

“Whilst many challenges were thrown at us during this internship, our high-flying student Vivian showed great resilience and dedication. This was made even more challenging for the majority of the time where she was forced to work from her own home office. Vivian was able to relate many theoretical elements of her MBA to real world business practice – particularly in the area of Sales and Finance. She also gained valuable experience using various software platforms that she will see during future endeavours post-MBA graduation later this year”

-Dane Williams, Aviation Safety Asia

“The AsBAA Discovery Program always delivers high-performing candidates who are enthusiastic about general and business aviation. This year, we had the opportunity to take on two interns – Yu-Wei and Tianyu, who supported Asian Sky Group’s consulting and commercial departments. Their contributions were invaluable, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and high-level analysis. These interns will, without a doubt, be of great value to any future employers. We look forward to working with AsBAA Discovery in the future.”

-Jeffrey Lowe, Asian Sky Group Managing Director

“Both interns demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and good competence for the job of intern/analyst. They mainly helped to research aircraft charter prices for a consulting project and studied the impact of Covid-19 on charter. Both of them provided strong support to the commercial & consulting teams.

Yu-Wei impressed me with his proactivity and being very responsible for the work assigned to him.

Tianyu still has room for improvement in these two areas compared with Yu-Wei.”
