AsBAA China-ACP Business Aviation Safety Day 2021 (physical event) Hailed an Unprecedented Success

Hu Zhenjiang, Deputy Administrator, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) gave a live virtual presentation at the AsBAA China-ACP Business Aviation Safety Day 2021.

The AsBAA China-ACP Business Aviation Safety Day 2021 held on 8 April 2021 in Chengdu, China was hailed an unprecedented success with over 150 physical attendees from the business aviation industry in mainland China, as well as several dozens more who joined virtually from Southeast Asia and the United States. The full-day physical event featured historical China and US government keynotes from the CAAC and NTSB respectively, as well as expert presentation sessions covering key safety topics as relevant to business and general aviation in China. The Honorable Robert L. Sumwalt, Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) presented virtually on the topic of "The Importance of Professionalism and Cultivating a Safety Culture" from Washington D.C.

The full-day physical event featured presentations from the Honorable Robert L. Sumwalt, Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB); Hu Zhenjiang, Deputy Administrator, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC); Robert Ruiz, Director, Office of General Aviation Safety Assurance (GASA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); Xiong Jie, Director General, Aviation Safety Office, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC); and many more. 

Attendees enjoyed simultaneous English and Chinese interpretation for all sessions of the AsBAA China-ACP Business Aviation Safety Day 2021.

The event's presentation topics included The Importance of Professionalism and Cultivating a Safety Culture, Safety Management System (SMS) in Business Aviation and Best Practices, Strengthening Cooperation on Investigation to Ensure General Aviation Safety, Gulfstream's Safety Innovations, Ensuring Safety on the Journey Back to Full Operations, Safety Culture Development from an OEM Perspective, Data-driven Safety Management Best Practices, Human Factors and Maintenance Safety, Effective Information Management with Advanced Technology in Safety Operations, and Ground Handling.

In addition to the presentations were Panel Discussions on "Technological Contributions to Safety", "Safety Culture and Maintenance", and "Cultivating a Safety Culture: Best Practices for Operations". The event included a networking luncheon of both local Chengdu and American delicacies. Attendees also enjoyed a long-overdue opportunity to network over drinks and canapés during the separate afternoon tea break and evening cocktail party that followed.
