The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA), Asia’s non-profit association for business and general aviation (BA/GA), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Malaysian Airports Holdings Berhad in relation to providing advice and guidance on the development of BA/GA infrastructure in Malaysia. The signing ceremony took place between the two organisations on 8th February at the Singapore Airshow.

AsBAA Vice-Chairman, Gary Moran said, “The industry is young in Asia, with great potential for growth. The development of enhanced aviation infrastructure will be the key to realising this growth, both in Malaysia and elsewhere around the Region. AsBAA is delighted to sign this MOU with Malaysia Airports in which we will provide a voice for our members and ensure the needs of the industry are heard in the formulation of plans under the Subang Regeneration Initiative”.

The Malaysian Airport Authority has confirmed that plans for the Subang Regeneration Initiative are underway. The new MOU with AsBAA has been established to ensure that the value and needs of the BA/GA industry are understood during the development phase of new aviation infrastructure at Subang. Badlisham Ghazali, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports said, “We expect that a further regeneration of the Subang Aerospace and Aviation ecosystem will create a spill-over effect into KLIA Aeropolis in the future – an emerging Aerospace and Aviation ecosystem. Currently, we are creating value through synergistic collaboration with our business partners to derive mutual benefits and provide solutions in terms of supply chain, human capital, infrastructure and equipment, as well as technology to attract aerospace players to be part of the established ecosystem in Subang and subsequently expand into KLIA Aeropolis,” Badlisham added further.

Further information on the Subang Regeneration Initiative will be available to AsBAA members soon. To find out more about support available through the AsBAA Malaysia Chapter, please get in touch.
